Glenn Brunken was born in Oklahoma City in 1943 and passed away in 2013. Brunken created abstract prints, paintings and drawing inspired by rock n’ roll and jazz music. It is estimated that he amassed about 10,000 works throughout his lifetime. He received his BFA from Kansas City Art Institute, and his MFA from Wichita State University, and later studied lithography at University of New Mexico. In 1969 Brunken started teaching at Slippery Rock University. He eventually, chaired the art department and later retired in 2009. In 2004, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts named Mr. Brunken a master visual artist, an honor for artists older than 60 who have made an impact on southwestern Pennsylvania. Along with Concept, his work has been displayed at Ward-Nasse Gallery in New York City, the Medium Gallery in Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Christopher John Gallery in Santa Monica, California.
