Barry Shields

Barry Shields is a painter and teacher living in Pittsburgh PA with his wife Karen Kaighin. Barry grew up in the Pittsburgh area and received his degree in fine arts from The Philadelphia College of Art. His Masters degree in Art Teaching is from Carnegie Mellon University. Barry did a couple of stints teaching art in Pittsburgh public schools before coming to The University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University ten years ago. He has been teaching introductory studio art courses to college students ever since. Barry has been in many exhibitions in western Pennsylvania. His work is in private and corporate collections.
